About Shari
I love color, texture and movement as they seem to represent life itself. Colors bring emotions and memories that remind me of the richness of being alive. Colors are powerful influencers. They can make us feel happy or sad, peaceful and calm, energized or relaxed. When I create, color is my friend.
Movement, even if just felt through the lines, means not sitting still, learning and trying new things, exploring and growing. Often, it means doing again the things that we love, even just for the sheer joy of it. In art, a sense of movement can feel like a gentle breeze, warm sunshine bathing us on a winter’s day, or new plants coming to life in spring. I’ve also learned that movement might need to be subtle or even absent. Sometimes, it means just sitting still and taking in life around us, so we don’t miss what is really important. Then we can best express what we have experienced.
I am fascinated by the outdoors and nature and the creativity it inspires. I’m drawn to the abstract, flowers, plants, shapes, textures, and the endless possibilities seen in nature. It resonates my art as well as my life and led me to achieve a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts, at San Diego State University
All together, colors, textures, lines, and movement in a balanced, cohesive abstract or a realistic painting can please the senses and evoke emotions and smiles. This is why I like to paint. It is a special joy to stand back and look at a painting that makes me smile.
My faith in Christ is even more important to me. Embedding scripture into art just seems like a natural way to pull everything together. I want the beauty of the art and the impression of the words to bring important insights, understanding, and encouragement to events and daily life. Marrying the two seamed to be a natural response to who I am.
I wish for my art to bring you strength and encouragement from the scripture, along with beauty and peace, to ignite a sense of awe, to fuel curiosity and wonder, and to inspire your creativity, too!
